My First Fried Oreo Experience

August 15, 2010 by Me Gusta 1 Comment

The Mrs. and I took our little one to the county fair yesterday. Great time. Carousels, little ducky plucking game, etc.

And I finally got to try a deep-fried Oreo.

deep fried oreo - delicious

Verdict

Delicious. $4 for 5. Soft yet kinda crispy on the outside, with a unique, almost flaky melted texture in the middle. The batter is sweet like a funnel cake. Probably comes out of the same drum.

The only con is that they serve them at 350° right outta the fryer (at this stand). And it’s topped with powdered sugar, so you can’t even blow on it to cool it down. It’s either scald your mouth and huff and puff your way through the pain, or wait for it to cool down.

I have some better pics on another phone, and will upload shortly. I really need a camera phone with a macro lens effect. C’mon somebody, make it happen.
